Members of IPAK Institute headed by Dr. Stanko Blatnik have completed a weeklong visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They have visited Teslić and Tuzla, meeting with various organizations and municipality representatives.
During the Teslić visit a couple of workshops were organized at Banja Vručica presenting various EU projects, focusing on projects offering participation to Bosnian institutions. The workshops also covered various rules and procedures for applying as well as advice for proposal writing, budget preparation, successful project managing, and project reporting.
The intent of the visit to Teslić was to support continuous development of civil society and improvement of the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, create new partnerships with Municipality of Teslić and other local institution, and share IPAK’s significant experience gained by writing, successfully applying to and coordinating numerous EU project.
During the Tuzla’s visit Dr. Stanko Blatnik held a couple of workshops highlighting the importance of self-esteem, internal happiness and freedom of personal choice that can be found even in difficult situations, and how those things can help aid our positive outlook towards life and work. Dr. Stanko Blatnik also presented tips and techniques on organizing and executing a successful presentation that were gained over 40 years of lecturing at various institutions.
IPAK Institute is also participation in the EU IPA project concerning proper disposal of medical waste in partnership with The Society for Research and Development Tuzla. The project was presented to local media at the press conference at Bosnian Cultural Centre Tuzla.
Another important initiative started by the IPAK institute was the introduction of students from The Faculty for Education-Rehabilitation Sciences with the students from The Faculty of Electrical Engineering with the intent of encouraging a collaborative process that would lead to creation of various software applications and apparatuses for assistive learning for kids and people with special needs. Insert Agency also presented its sophisticated computer program designed to assist visually impaired in learning Brail. Computer program allows visually impaired to use the standard keyboard as Brail input device for writing word documents and emails.

Several meetings were held in Tuzla with representatives from various local institutions with intent to form new partnerships and share experiences and good practices.

eSwimming
IPAK Institute in the last year has been particpating in the EU project eSwimming with NGOs and public institutions from Germany, Italy, Spain and Scotland. eSwimming is a European project funded with support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission with the aim of promoting all over Europe swimming as a therapy for disadvantaged people.. Sharon Gelber (www.sharongelber.com) in Gary Friedman (www.puppetrynews.com) from Australia on 23rd., 24th . and 25th of April realized the workshop Paper Creativity. (http://www.africanpuppet.com/workshop.html) on elementary schools MPT, Anton Aškerc at Velenje and in gallery at Celje. The participants learned to release their creativity using only paper and own imagination.In time of high technology, it was nice refreshment and opportunity for high human touch.With Sharon and Gary we discussed possibility to propose a project The Puppets and Science in the programme Science and Society in 7FP. In February 2007 director of Institute of Strenght Physics and Materials Science from Toms (Russian Federation) prof. Sergey Psakhie visited IPAK. We discuss the future collaboration of institutes in the selling of SW MCA in Silicon Valley and project Learning Mathematics Using SVG.

Stanko Blatnik will participate on Going Nova 2007 at Elgin, Scottland with a lecture Tomsk, Tuzla and Silicon Valley. Together with Mr. A. Rotovnik from Miel Company he will lecture about using fuzzy logic in the distillation process, and organize Fuzzy Logic workshop for high School students in Elgin.
